APO customs form AES/ITN notation or exemption exclusion legend.
« on: February 03, 2013, 08:41:16 PM »
I am shipping my first APO package in years and am filling out the military customs form 2976-A online. I am getting an error message that reads:

Please enter a valid AES/ITN notation or exemption exclusion legend. If there is no valid notation, the parcel may not be accepted.

There is an 800 number but I doubt that it there will be anyone answering at this hour on a Sunday.

I am being given a choice between NOEEI 30.37 (a) and (h)

Can someone enlighten me on what this means and which one should I choose for a $10/>2 lb book?

(But my form does say "for more information on AES go to www.census.gov/foreign-trade/aes"
--hope that helps.)

I use Endicia.

In Dazzle, open layout file, there is a choice for APO and US Territories large.
When you open that layout, the return info should already be filled in.
Under the Customs Form tab, fill in the proper fields, including checking the NOEEI 30.37(a) button.
Then print.  I got three copies. The first is the only one I used.

"For most shipments, you'll be able to use one of the following Exemption and Exclusion Legends:
If you're shipping to Canada, enter "NOEEI 30.36."
If the value of your shipment is less than $2,500, enter "NOEEI 30.37(a)."
If the item you're shipping is a gift or humanitarian donation, enter "NOEEI 30.37(h)."

This info came from someone on the other forum.

I will find out if all this worked if I don't get a "where's my package" email from a service person someone in Germany in a couple of weeks.
